Open Letter to National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Concerning the accreditation of the Kansas Insurance Department.

 Dear NAIC Leadership,

I am writing to express my concern regarding the accreditation of the Kansas insurance department. It has been my experience that the department is not providing adequate assistance to its residents in resolving disputes with their insurance companies. I believe that the Kansas insurance department should be held to a higher standard and that its accreditation should reflect this. Unfortunately, it seems that the current system is lacking and is not providing the necessary support to its citizens. The Kansas Insurance Department claims to want to help Kansas consumers with their insurance problems, but their actions do not always match their words. Despite their supposed commitment to helping citizens, the Department has chosen to threaten Mr. LuPardus with civil action if he continued to try to seek out assistance with his insurance company. This is an outrageous violation of the right of individuals to seek assistance and have their voices heard. The Department's actions are particularly concerning given that they are led by Vicki Schmidt, the current top official. The Department is not upholding its promise to assist Kansas citizens, and instead is acting as a shield for insurance companies to take advantage of them. This type of behavior should not be accredited by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

Instead of threatening citizens with legal action, the Kansas Insurance Department should be doing more to ensure protection for consumers. They should be providing resources on how to file complaints and how to seek assistance from the Department if needed. Furthermore, the Department should be monitoring insurance companies to ensure they are not engaging in unfair practices. Lastly, the Department must be held accountable for its actions and be willing to take responsibility for any mistakes or misconduct.

The Kansas Insurance Department must put the rights of citizens before their own interests.

They must make good on their promise to help Kansas citizens with their insurance problems and not threaten them with legal action. Only then can they be accredited by the NAIC and truly serve the people of Kansas

Therefore, I am asking you to review the accreditation of the Kansas insurance department and take appropriate measures to ensure that it meets the standards expected of such a department.

Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.

Sincerely,

Lonnie LuPardus
